As a child, I remember eating dinner with my family almost every night. Even if my dad was working an odd shift, we’d eat our main meal in the middle of the day. These days with each member of the family going in a different direction eating a meal together takes effort. With some planning and organization, make it happen during August, Family Meal Month.

Times have also changed in the world of education. The challenges start even before a child enters kindergarten. Prepare your child during Get Ready for Kindergarten Month. Call your local school district for a list of requirements and tips for helping your child make the transition.

You’re nothing but a hound dog if you aren’t celebrating the life of the King during Elvis Week, Aug. 8 through 16. Then, remember to have a hotdog slathered with one of the kings of condiments, mustard, on Aug. 5, National Mustard Day.
