The True Source of Power
One night after a boxing match, Howard Cosell, the world-famous
sports commentator, and a friend were making their way back to their hotel room
via a chauffer-driven limousine. While being driven by an alley, Cosell and his
friend saw a crowd of young people whooping it up as two boys punched and kicked
each other.
"Pull
over," Howard said to the driver.
"I’m sorry, but this is not a safe neighborhood!" said the chauffer.
But Cosell was adamant, "Pull this limo over NOW!" he commanded.
Before the driver was able to get the car to a full stop, Cosell had the door
open and was out on the street striding over to the gang of teens. Then Cosell
did something truly unexpected. He did not try to break the fight up as the
onlookers had assumed he was going to do. Instead, he started calling the fight.
In only minutes the fight broke up and the teens gathered round the famous
sports announcer. Cosell handed out autographs and talked to the young people
about what it meant to be a real man instead of a punk.
When Cosell got back into the limo, the driver turned back and asked, "How did
you do that?"
Cosell answered simply: "Because dear lady … I know who I am."

Your Purpose In Life
To discover your true purpose in life, not
your job or your goals, you’ll just need 20 minutes, according to personal
growth specialist Steve Pavlina. What he’s talking about is answering the
question of why you are here on the planet.

To find your purpose here’s what Pavlina says to do:
Get a pen and piece of paper or sit at your computer and write or type the
question, "What is my purpose in life?" Then write whatever pops into your head.
Repeat this process, keep writing answers, until you hit one to which you
respond emotionally. You’ll know when you’ve got it, Pavlina said.
Pavlina should know a thing or two about finding purpose. When he was 19 he
found himself in jail for felony grand theft. When he got out of jail he found
he had been kicked out of school. Then, he said, something clicked. He woke up
and grew up instead of giving up. He took responsibility for his actions and
he’s not in jail or living a life of crime. Instead, he’s helping others find
their way to more meaningful lives.
