It was George Bush (the father) who said he wanted a kinder, gentler nation. I think that’s a state we could all appreciate and enjoy. Let’s start in August during National Win With Civility Month, which aims to secure the respect of our fellow human beings. When we are civil to each other we confirm our worth and acknowledge the worth of others.

One of the greatest shows on Earth can be seen from Aug. 9-12. The Perseid Meteor Showers are one of the best-known and most spectacular. As many as 50 to 100 "falling stars" may be seen in one night.

Celebrate the real dog day(s) of summer on Aug. 26, National Dog Day. Dogs are the number one pet. Their day is to honor man’s best friends for all they do for their families and communities and it brings attention to the number of dogs that need to be rescued. For more information, visit www.nationaldogday.com.

Most people don’t welcome change. It’s part of our genetic makeup to resist it. Still, we sometimes get stuck in a rut and change is the only thing that will get us out of it. Read In a Nutshell to find out more about how to handle making a change. Keep reading for a checklist on how to buy a printer. Lighten up on a hot summer day and unscramble summer in Treehouse Games. Then move over to Treehouse Trivia to for a few life lessons and a laugh.
