I know most kids are back in school before then, but I always think of September as back-to-school time. Summer officially ends and it’s time to settle down and get serious again. Hopefully, you will get serious about planning for your child’s college education before they start. Whether your child is a year away or 15 years away from going to the university, it’s a good time to think about financing, especially in September during College-Savings Month. Visit www.collegesavings.org for more information.

As soon as I could write my name, I wanted my own library card and I haven’t stopped using it since. During Library Card Sign-Up Month, children (and adults) are encouraged to get their own card and start using it.

Using the library saves me tons of money on books. Another cost-saving method I use is coupons. American consumers save almost $4 billion a year by using the little pieces of paper. For information on getting your piece of the wealth, go to www.couponmonth.com.

While you are thinking about the subject of money, stop by In a Nutshell to learn about money myths and women. Keep on reading to find out about clearing clutter from your in box.

From Belgian to frozen, there’s nothing like a waffle covered in butter and maple syrup. Celebrate this yummy breakfast food from Sept. 2-8 during National Waffle Week. Also, during this week remember to honor our country’s workers on Labor Day, Sept. 3. Honor also goes to our parents’ parents on Sept. 9, Grandparents Day.

Finally, hop on over to Treehouse Games for a little word find fun. Then check out Treehouse Trivia to learn how to be more efficient and find out about the truth behind TV character salaries.
