July 2008 |
The fruits of summer
make it the sweetest season. I can’t get
enough watermelon, peaches and strawberries. Blueberries also rate high
on my list. I make a mean smoothie with the fruit. Enjoy the precious
bites during July, which is National Blueberries Month.Get outside in July and celebrate Recreation and Parks Month. Camping, hiking and picnicking are only a few of the activities to try. While at the park, grill up a few hotdogs for National Hot Dog Month. I like mine a bit blackened and topped with ketchup, mustard and relish. Learn the history of the meat from In a Nutshell. You’ll also find out how to save water and money. There’s nothing like a relaxing massage. A good therapist can find sore muscles you didn’t even know you had and soothe them. Make an appointment between July 20 to 26, Everybody Deserves a Massage Week. You can kick off the month by concocting your own frozen treat on Creative Ice Cream Flavor Day, July 1. Then start the party and light the fireworks for Independence Day, July 4. When the hotdogs and ice cream are eaten, try your hand at finding the words of summer in Treehouse Games. Then hop over to Treehouse Trivia to read up on Abraham Lincoln, Wrong-Way Corrigan and fostering creativity.
